Arizona requires Title 4 liquor training for managers and for the owners, agents, and officers who run a licensed business day to day. This Learn2Serve course is the Basic level for off-premises retailers such as liquor stores, convenience stores, and grocery stores. It is approved by the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control, and it works just as well for the cashiers and clerks your managers supervise.

What you'll learn

• How to recognize intoxicated customers and refuse a sale with minimal conflict

• How to check IDs accurately, spot fake IDs, and keep alcohol away from minors

• How to recognize and stop second-party sales

• How to prevent disturbances in and around the store

Format and exam

The course is fully online and self-paced, and takes about three hours. Work through six short lessons, then pass the final exam with a score of 70 percent or better. You can print your certificate of completion as soon as you pass. Course access runs for 60 days from purchase.

Who needs Title 4 Basic training in Arizona?

Managers must hold Title 4 training, along with liquor license owners, agents, partners, stockholders, and officers active in daily operations. Basic comes first and is a prerequisite for the Management course, so managers need both. State law does not require the course for cashiers and clerks, but many Arizona retailers make it a condition of hire.

The Learn2Serve Arizona Title 4 Basic (Off-Premises) program runs six lessons: Introduction, Recognizing Intoxicated Customers, Preventing Disturbances, Minors and Liability, Second-Party Sales, and How to Refuse a Sale. It ends with a final exam and a certificate of completion you can download the same day.
