In Michigan, every on-premises establishment needs a supervisory employee on site who has completed server training during the hours it sells alcohol. This Learn2Serve course covers that requirement online, from an approved provider of the Michigan Liquor Control Commission. Format and exam
The course is fully online and self-paced, and takes about three hours. Work through eight short lessons, then pass the final exam with a score of 70 percent or better. You can print your certificate of completion as soon as you pass. Course access runs for 60 days from purchase.
Who needs server training in Michigan?
Bars, restaurants, and other on-premises licensees in Michigan need a trained supervisor on site during all hours alcohol is sold. New licensees, and anyone taking over 50 percent or more of a license, have 180 days to show that training is complete. To make sure every shift is covered, train each manager and shift lead who might be the supervisor on duty. Servers and bartenders can take the same course.

The Learn2Serve Michigan program runs eight lessons: Introduction, How Alcohol Affects the Body, Recognizing Intoxicated Customers, Preventing Disturbances, Minors and Liability, Second-Party Sales, How to Refuse a Sale, and Michigan Alcohol Laws. It ends with a final exam and a certificate of completion you can download the same day.
