Washington requires a MAST permit for anyone who mixes, serves, sells, or supervises the sale of alcohol at a licensed establishment, under the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board and Washington Administrative Code Chapter 314-17. This WSLCB-approved course covers what you need, fully online and self-paced. Servers earn the Class 13 permit at 18, and bartenders who mix drinks and supervise earn the Class 12 at 21.

Serving without a valid permit is a violation of state law that puts both the worker and the establishment at risk. The permit is valid for five years, after which you retake the course.
