Format and exam

The course is fully online and self-paced, and takes about four hours. Work through the lessons at your own pace, then pass the final exam with a score of 70 percent or better. You can print your certificate of completion as soon as you pass. Course access runs for 60 days from purchase.

Who should take seller-server training in Maine?

Anyone who sells or serves alcohol at a Maine bar, restaurant, or other on-premises establishment. The course is optional under state law, but many employers require it for every server and bartender, and a refresher every two to three years keeps the team current.

The course covers how alcohol affects the body, recognizing intoxicated customers, preventing disturbances, checking IDs and spotting fake IDs, second-party sales, how to refuse a sale, and Maine liquor law and liability.
