Responsibility Works is alcohol awareness training for employees, developed by Responsibility.org and now available on Learn Brands. In one short, self-paced session, learners cover what a standard drink is, how blood alcohol concentration (BAC) works and what the U.S. Dietary Guidelines say about alcohol, then apply it to realistic situations at work.

Most people in beverage alcohol can tell you a lot about the products they sell. Fewer can say how many standard drinks are in a heavy wine pour, a high-ABV beer or a cocktail with two shots. Those basics matter for everyone, and even more for people whose jobs put alcohol in front of them every day: sales reps at trade events, retail staff, and brand ambassadors running tastings.

What you'll learn

  • What alcohol is and what counts as a standard drink

  • How to recognize a standard drink across different products and serving containers

  • The U.S. Dietary Guidelines as they relate to beverage alcohol

  • What BAC is, the factors that affect it, and how alcohol affects an individual

  • How to apply all of it to realistic workplace scenarios

How the course works

Responsibility Works has two units. The Basics of Alcohol covers standard drinks, the Dietary Guidelines and BAC, with interactive pouring simulations and a digital blood alcohol calculator. Workplace Scenarios puts that knowledge to work in situations employees run into on the job.

A multiple-choice assessment closes the course. Learners need 70 percent or higher to pass, and anyone who falls short can review the content and retake it. Most people finish in 30 to 40 minutes.

Your certificate

Pass the assessment and you receive a certificate from Responsibility.org, issued within the course.

Who should take it

  • Sales reps who work trade events and brand ambassadors who run tastings

  • Retail staff who sell beverage alcohol

  • Anyone in the beverage alcohol industry, in any role, who wants a solid foundation

  • Employers who want the whole team working from the same facts about alcohol
