Built for Florida Medical Marijuana Treatment Center staff. Florida law makes every Medical Marijuana Treatment Center (MMTC) adopt and enforce policies and procedures to ensure employees and volunteers receive training on the legal requirements to dispense marijuana to qualified patients (s. 381.986(8)(e)5., Florida Statutes). Florida does not approve employee courses or set a number of training hours, so each MMTC decides how that training gets done. Florida Medical Marijuana Workforce Training covers those legal requirements in about four hours.
The Florida rules behind every sale
Four checks before every sale: an active registration, an active and valid registry ID card, an amount and type that match the physician certification, and a certification that has not already been filled (s. 381.986(8)(e)16.d.)
Supply limits: no more than a 70-day supply within any 70-day period, and no more than one 35-day supply of smokable marijuana within any 35-day period, which may not exceed 2.5 ounces unless the Department of Health approved an exception
Patients under 18: marijuana is dispensed only to the patient's caregiver
Edibles: no more than 10 mg of THC per serving and 200 mg of THC per package
Recording each sale in the Medical Marijuana Use Registry at the time of dispensing, under the employee's own name or identifier
Keeping patient records out of view of everyone except the patient, the caregiver, and authorized employees
Florida is a medical-only state. The only buyers are qualified patients and their registered caregivers, so every module is written for a medical counter.

What this course does not replace
Your MMTC still trains staff on its own written policies and SOPs, on hands-on use of the Medical Marijuana Use Registry and the store's point-of-sale and seed-to-sale system, and on the separate safety and security training Florida requires for delivery and transport staff (s. 381.986(8)(g)6.).
Built for operators running a whole team
New hires can finish the course on their phone before their first shift. The Learn Brands LMS stores every certificate and shows who has finished and who is outstanding.
Florida medical marijuana training FAQ
Does Florida require training for medical marijuana dispensary employees?
Florida law makes each Medical Marijuana Treatment Center (MMTC) adopt and enforce policies and procedures to ensure employees and volunteers receive training on the legal requirements to dispense marijuana to qualified patients (s. 381.986(8)(e)5., Florida Statutes). The state does not approve employee courses, set a number of training hours, or issue a state certificate. Each MMTC decides how its staff are trained.
Is this course approved by the State of Florida?
No. The Florida Department of Health and its Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU) do not approve employee training courses. This course is built around the training duty in the statute and gives each employee a dated certificate for the MMTC's training records.
How long does this course take?
About four hours, self-paced, on a phone or a computer. Progress saves, so staff can stop and pick up where they left off.
What topics does it cover?
Federal and Florida medical marijuana law, who can buy, supply limits and completing the sale, the registry card and registry checks, refusing a sale, patient privacy and confidentiality, security and tracking, emergencies and incident reporting, and this year's changes.
Does it cover adult-use sales?
No. Florida allows medical sales only, so the course is written for a medical counter where the only buyers are qualified patients and their registered caregivers.
Does it replace my MMTC's own training?
No. Your MMTC still trains staff on its own written policies and SOPs, hands-on use of the Medical Marijuana Use Registry and the store's point-of-sale and seed-to-sale system, and the separate safety and security training Florida requires for delivery and transport staff.
How do I train my whole team at once?
Buy bulk seats, assign them to staff, and track completion in the dashboard. Bulk discounts are available to all companies on Learn Brands.
