Team Conflict Resolution: Practical Skills for Any Workplace

Conflict is a natural part of any workplace. When people collaborate under deadlines, balance competing responsibilities, and manage different personalities, tension will surface. What matters is how you handle it. Team Conflict Resolution is a free, self-paced course from Learn Brands that helps professionals at all levels develop the skills to recognize conflict early, respond with confidence, and resolve disagreements in ways that protect relationships and support a positive work culture.

Recognize Conflict Before It Escalates

The course starts with understanding why workplace conflict happens and how to spot it early. You will learn the most common causes of tension, including unclear communication, uneven workloads, personality differences, and external pressure. The course covers the warning signs that conflict is building, from changes in tone and avoidance behaviors to repeated complaints, and why addressing issues early prevents them from spreading to the rest of the team.

Types of Workplace Conflict

Not all conflict looks the same, and each type requires a different approach. This course covers peer-to-peer conflict (disagreements over responsibilities, clashing styles, or perceived unfairness), manager-employee conflict (disputes over feedback, expectations, or tone), and client or customer conflict (misaligned expectations or communication breakdowns). You will learn specific language and strategies for each situation, including when to involve a supervisor or HR.

The L.E.A.R.N. Resolution Method

The course introduces a practical conflict resolution framework called L.E.A.R.N.: Listen, Empathize, Ask, Resolve, Next Steps. This method slows the pace, turns tension into collaboration, and gives both parties a clear path forward. You will also learn grounding techniques for staying calm under pressure, neutral language that avoids blame, and how to recognize when a conversation needs to pause before it can move forward productively.

Navigating Peer Conflicts

Most peer conflicts come from small issues that build up over time. This course teaches you how to address disagreements directly and professionally, using "I" language instead of blame, seeking common ground, and defining clear next steps. You will learn what to say, what to avoid, and how to keep things fact-based and private rather than letting tension play out in front of the team.

Turn Conflict Into Stronger Teams

When handled well, conflict builds trust and strengthens communication. The final lesson covers the 3R Method for resolving external conflict (Recognize, Reassure, Redirect), how to lead or mediate conflict as a manager, and how to build a team culture where respectful feedback and open discussion replace avoidance and resentment. Every disagreement is an opportunity to grow. This course gives you the tools to handle it with clarity, care, and confidence.
